Grub, glory and golf: The Outback Queensland Masters at Charleville didn’t disappoint.

Crowds gathered at Charleville Golf Club over the weekend for the second event of the Outback Queensland Masters.

Robyne Clayton won the women’s division with a score of 43 points while Same Wade claimed the men’s division with a 40 points.

In the teams’ division, Wade also celebrated success with his father Gary, maintaining their lead from day one with a combined score of 74 points.

Junior golfers were treated to one-on-one training sessions with PGA Pro Darren Weatherall, followed by an opportunity to experience a golf simulator.

Charleville Golf Club President, Cliff Jones was very pleased with the event.

“The whole concept of the Outback Queensland Masters is amazing,” Jones said.

“Charleville is run by volunteers so we are thrilled for an event like this to showcase our little club.

“We thank Golf Australia for supporting grass roots golf and we look forward to being involved next year.”

Temperatures dipped down to -3 on Saturday night with participants rugging up for the evening’s entertainment. Players and spectators were treated to a Welcome to Country & Smoking Ceremony from Keelen Mailman.

Outback Food Shack warmed up the crowds with delicious bites while prolific bush poet Gary Fogarty entertained.

Tenori trio of tenors – David Kidd, Craig Atkinson and Andrew Pryor – brought their sense of fun and sophistication to Charleville with an evening of familiar tunes audiences loved.

Thank you to Murweh Shire Council for the generous support of the Charleville event and Charleville Golf Club providing a unique experience with a mix of traditional greens to sand greens.

Missed out on Roma and Charleville events? Play, spectate or enjoy the evening’s entertainment at the Longreach event from Saturday 29 to Sunday 30 June. Book your tickets now.
